- CHRIS’S ‘ALL DAY’ ROAD BIKE -

Chris wanted a high quality steel road bike that has the comfort for all day riding in all weathers, great performance qualities in the frame, something that would be reliable in all weathers, but had a traditional look.

Chris puts in a lot of miles, and as a life long cyclist he lives and breathes cycling. He lives on the cusp of the North Yorkshire Moors and is bound to hit some pretty decent and steep climbs regularly, so although he wanted the traditional look of lugs, I wanted to add a bit of an extra performance aspect to his bike and used XL tubing to add stiffness for those out of the saddle climbs he’s undoubtedly going to come up against.

The Chris King hubs are bound to keep him rolling fast for years and years to come, and the Super Record groupset will give him that reassurance of precision shifting, no matter what he comes up against whilst out on the road upwards of 8 hours. All the while, the fantastic coverage of the PDW mudguards will keep the spray away from himself and his club mates, no doubt having everyone fighting over his back wheel on the rainy days.

Chris is the go to man at the Yorkshire Coast Clarion Cycling Club, this is where his colour scheme comes from. The Clarion Cycling Club was started in 1895 as a socialist movement within cycling, somewhere working class people could get together with like minded folk, ride their bikes and discuss the political issues of the times. These days it takes a much softer approach and is all about getting people out riding together and is much more of a traditional road club focussing on club runs, touring and racing.

He is currently working his way through all of the climbs from Simon Warren’s 100 Greatest Climbs series of books and only has 3 left to go from the Yorkshire book.
