- ADAM’S COLUMBUS ‘CENTO’ 100 YEAR ANNIVERSARY BIKE -

Described by someone I have a lot of respect for in the hand built bike industry as ‘the finest example’ of any Columbus Cento build he has seen, this all Italian steel dream bike is the kind of build every custom builder daydreams of having the pleasure of being asked to build. This is the only ‘Cento’ Feather in existence and could quite possibly stay that way due to the limited edition and sold out tube set.

Adam had a pretty good idea of what he wanted but gave myself and Jack a lot of trust and freedom to try some things out. We knew it was a special bike for Adam. The unusual parts I was going to make, such as the seat stay top lugs and top headset cup seat, I sketched out prior to making.

Jack similarly sprayed out samples of the Columbus ‘100’ repeat logos we intended on painting on. We used Aston Martin Morning frost White and loads of red candy to really give some pop to the Columbus Cento colour palette and for the gold used 24k gold leaf for the special finishing touch this bike deserved.

The final assembly consisted of Campagnolo Super Record EPS groupset, Campagnolo Bora Ultra wheels and a Deda finishing kit in order for us to be able to completely internally route the build. The only parts of this entire build which aren't Italian are the badge, the builder, the painter, the paint, the pedals, the seat bolt and the bronze which holds the frame together. Basically, everything but the things that weren’t a possibility. I even changed my name to Ricardo during the building of this bike.
